This is the same laser-cutting technique used to produce a soft scalloped border instead of a straight one — the edge is still cut and sealed rather than hemmed, so it lies flat with no ridge, but the finish reads as lingerie rather than as a technical layer.

Yes, provided the scallop is laser-cut rather than stitched or trimmed with lace. Because the fabric is cut and sealed, the edge is the same thickness as the body of the garment — the shape of the border changes, but the flatness doesn't.
The fabric, fit, sizing and cotton gusset are identical. The only difference is the border: a soft scalloped laser cut instead of a straight raw cut. Choose on appearance — both perform the same under a dress.
