Composition: 70% premium nylon, 30% high-stretch elastane. Gusset: 100% organic cotton.
Care: Hand wash in cold water with a gentle delicate-wash. Lay flat to dry naturally in shade. Do not iron, bleach, tumble dry or dry clean.
For dresses that go out from the waist — ballgown, A-line and structured satin. The thick leg band holds the shorts in shape all day, so it needs a skirt to cover it: not for sheath, column or mermaid.
Delivery: Express shipping across New Zealand is complimentary on orders over $100 NZD. Under $100, a flat rate applies: $5 for small accessories, or $12 for larger boxed pieces. In-stock orders are dispatched within 1–2 business days (2–3 day delivery), carefully packaged and gift-ready.
Return Policy: Due to the intimate nature of our garments, returns are not accepted — please choose your size and style carefully before ordering. This does not affect your rights under the NZ Consumer Guarantees Act: if an item is faulty, we will always make it right.
360° tummy control, built for structured silhouettes
This garment fits close to the body from the ribcage to the knee, which means the shaping layer has to do two jobs at once: hold the waist firmly enough to read through a fitted bodice, and then release smoothly down the thigh without flattening the butt. Most tummy-control shorts do the first and fail the second.
These are cut high on the waist with high-density 360-degree compression through the midsection, then finish in a thick leg band that runs well down the thigh. That band is a deliberate choice over a laser-cut edge: on a garment shaping this firmly a raw edge can work itself loose and roll up the leg, where a band grips and holds the shorts in shape the whole day. It does need covering, so these belong under a skirt that flares from the waist. Boning strips anchor at the ribcage so the waistband doesn't travel down either.
Designed in Christchurch by bespoke bridal designer Sarah Stoute, drafted against Mikado, duchess satin and other structured fabrics in live fittings. The shaping is firm without flattening the seat — brides consistently want the waist held and the shape kept, not compressed into a straight line. Pair with the Adhesive Bra for strapless bodices; together they form the Hourglass Kit.
Common questions
For fitted and structured gowns, a high-waisted seamless short is the strongest option — it holds the waist and stomach through 360 degrees while holding to the thigh and not rolling up or down.
There is no laser-cut edge on this piece, and that is deliberate. The leg finishes in a thick band that holds onto the thigh all day, where a laser-cut edge on a garment shaping this firmly can work itself loose and roll up the leg. The trade-off is that the band is meant to be covered — wear these under a dress that goes out from the waist, like a ballgown or an A-line, where the skirt hides the leg completely and you still get the full cinch at the waist. They are not for a sheath, a column or a mermaid. Under those, wear one of our laser-cut seamless briefs instead.
Yes — this is the silhouette they were drafted for. Ball gown and A-line gowns are fitted to the waist, which is exactly the zone a high-waisted short covers in one seamless piece.
