What actually makes underwear invisible
Almost everything sold as seamless underwear still has a seam somewhere — usually a folded hem at the leg opening, which is precisely the edge that shows. Genuine invisibility comes from a laser-cut raw border: the fabric is cut and sealed rather than turned and stitched, so it lies flat against the skin with nothing to press a line into a close-fitting fabric.
The second half of the problem is everything else that gets added to a brief. Lace, embroidery, elasticated or contrast waistbands and hook-and-eye hardware are all thicker than the garment they sit on, and under a lightweight fabric thickness is what registers. These have none of it — one plain thickness of microfibre from the waist to the leg opening, which is why they work under white silk, ivory chiffon and pale organza as readily as under everyday jersey and tailoring.
Drafted by Sarah Stoute, a bespoke bridal designer who fits hundreds of gowns a year in Christchurch. Brides were the reason these exist, but nothing about them is bridal-only: the same raw-cut brief is the thing to wear under a slip dress, a fitted skirt, white trousers or activewear. Buy any three and save 15% automatically, or take the Panty Trio — any three pairs for $60, mixed across styles and sizes.
Common questions
A laser-cut seamless brief. Avoid anything with a hemmed leg opening, lace trim or a contrast waistband — under silk, chiffon and crepe those all read as a line.
Laser-cut seamless underwear shows no lines because there is no hem, no stitching and no elastic band at the edge. The common failure is underwear labelled seamless that still has a folded hem — that fold is thicker than the fabric around it and shows under anything close-fitting.
Yes — lightweight breathable microfibre with a 100% organic cotton gusset, no compression and no digging waistband. They were designed to be worn from a morning fitting through a full evening without adjustment.
